The press conference for the 2023 World New Energy and New Materials Conference was held in Beijing. Zhang Peng, Deputy Secretary-General of the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, presided over the conference. Chen Zheng, Deputy Director of the Inner Mongolia Energy Bureau, and Su Cuifang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Ordos Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Ordos, introduced the relevant details of the conference.
The 2023 World New Energy and New Materials Conference will be held in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, from June 28 to 29. Under the theme "New Energy Era, New World Future," the conference will feature a series of events, including "one conference, one exhibition, two forums, and two competitions" — namely, the conference opening ceremony, a new energy and new materials exhibition, two forums focusing on new energy and coal-based new materials, as well as two competitions: the 2023 Hydrogen Energy Specialized and New Ventures Competition (Ordos Station) and the Warm City Cup · 2023 China New Energy Vehicle Ordos Challenge. The new energy vehicle challenge will take place from June 27 to 29 at the Kangbashi International Racing Town, featuring three main events: the New Energy Vehicle Challenge, the New Energy Vehicle Endurance Race, and the New Energy Commercial Vehicle Challenge. Approximately 400 participants and over 10,000 spectators are expected to attend.
Ordos is a major city in energy and resources, with coal sales reaching 840 million tons and natural gas sales reaching 30 billion cubic meters in 2022. Since the launch of the "14th Five-Year Plan," Ordos has seized the strategic opportunities presented by the "dual carbon" goals. Based on its resource advantages, the city has strengthened top-level design and gathered industrial elements according to local conditions. It has proposed the "Three Four" development goals to cultivate and expand the new energy and new materials industries, achieving significant breakthroughs. These efforts provide valuable insights for resource-based regions in western China and across the country in fostering the foundations of the new energy and new materials sectors, building industrial chains, and promoting the integrated development of traditional and emerging industries.
According to the introduction, Ordos has adopted the principles of "innovation, frugality, openness, and green development" in organizing the conference. A diverse range of exciting forums and competitions have been designed, featuring top-tier and authoritative guests, thematically focused exhibitions, and meticulously arranged services. The conference emphasizes multifaceted expressions of "new energy and new materials," creating a grand and vibrant atmosphere. The event will highlight three key features: "emphasizing technological innovation-driven development, showcasing technological demonstration and application, and promoting comprehensive interaction and integration." Currently, all preparatory work is progressing as planned.
